The Tea Rooms

he Tea Rooms opened in 1950 as a family run business, Jill & Richard Savage have been running the establishment for over 22 years, working hard to attract new customers & have developed a successful Award winning Tea Room.

Recommended by the Lady's Magazine, Independent, and featured as one of the four UK Tea Rooms in the Telegraph, as well as listing as one of the top six tea rooms in Cornwall's Food Guide magazine and recommended by Coeliac UK. The Rectory has also been awarded "Tea Guild award of Excellence" 2005 to 2010, and Bronze award of Cornish Tourism most popular cafe.

The tearooms provide locally sourced foods where possible, specializing in homemade scones, cakes, quiche's, chutneys and delicious soups using century old recipies passed down through the generations; as well as proper Cornish pasties, cheeses, jams, fish (caught fresh from local waters) and our own beef & lamb as available.

Fruit and vegetables come from from our own kitchen garden or locally sourced - we also provide Gluten, Wheat and Dairy free diets and children's menus offering a healthy choice of sandwiches, rolls, organic yogurts and fresh fruit with a choice of apple or orange juice.

We have a large range of loose leaf teas, including our own house blend (Smugglers Choice) supplied locally from Kamellia Budd of Barnstaple, and Tregothnan, the first Tea Plantation in Cornwall.

The experienced staff, not only take pride in the service they give, but are proud of the good reputation of the Tea Rooms.

Located only ten minutes walk from the footpath which stretches the length of the rugged Cornish Coastline, with many other features to visit such as Hawkers Hut & the Church of St. John the Baptist, which dates back to the 9th Century (more information in the Local History section).
